Note, that the structure of NT/2000/XP version has been changed
beginning from version 1.4.0.0. There will be no tray icon application
in the service version. In order to manage the server, you will have to access it's
controller application from destkop or start menu (application ftpsvctl.exe).
We are assuming that you are using version 1.2.X.X or later.
Follow these steps. They will help you to install the upgrade without rebooting
your computer:
- Just in case, to keep your users intact, find the file users.dat in your FTP server
directory (by default, c:\Program Files\ArGo Software Design\FTP Server\) and make
a backup copy of it;
- If you are using NT/2000/XP version, run controller application,
stop the server, then click File - Unregister Service, and file - exit. If you are
running Win98/Me version, just stop the server and exit from it
(File - Exit);
- Run downloaded file fssetup.exe. It is an self-extracting zip file. Setup will start
automatically
- Install the server in the same directory where you had installed
previous version;
- Launch the server controller application (for NT version), or server itself (Win98
version), and start the service.
