Manually Installing and Uninstalling ArGoSoft Mail Server Pro
You should use following instructions, if you are having problems executing setup program
mspro.exe. Note, that following methods will not convert your existing data, if you've been
using freeware or Plus version of our server.
Following assumes that if you've been using earlier versions of our mail server, you already
have uninstalled it from Control Panel, and unregistered appropriate services on WinNT/2000, or,
you are doing clean installation.
File mspro.exe is a windows self-extracting archive. You should unzip it using
WinZip before following installation instructions.
Installation on Windows NT/2000
- Unzip mspro.exe to some temporary directory. We will refer to this directory as to
Setup Directory. Also, create a directory where you will be installing mail server. We
will refer to this directory as to Program Directory.
- Copy following files:

from the root of Setup Directory to the root of Program Directory
- Copy following subdirectories of Setup Directory directories:
| webtemplates |
| images |
| _maillists |
to the root of Program Directory
- In Program Directory create subdirectory \_users\_nodomain\
- Copy the files msmlsrv.cpl and msmlsrv.cpl.manifest, from Setup Directory to c:\windows\system32\
- Run regedit, create following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ArGoSoft\Mail Server\Setup,
and add the String Value: with value name Program Path, and value data which contains Program Directory, where
you have installed the server, including trailing backslash;
- Go to control panel, and run ArGoSoft Mail Server, you can create a shortcut to it, and
place it on your desktop, for easier access to the mail server controller in the future
Uninstallation on Windows NT/2000
- Run Mail Server Controller application from control panel, and enter administration mode
- Stop the server (File - Stop)
- Unregister the service (File - Unregister Service)
- Exit from controller application (File - Exit)
- Delete all files in Program Directory and it's subdirectories
- Run regedit, and delete following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ArGoSoft\Mail Server
- Make sure that control panel is closed, and delete the file msmlsrv.cpl from c:\windows\system32\ directory
Installation on Windows 95/98
- Unzip mspro.exe to some temporary directory. We will refer to this directory as to
Setup Directory. Also, create a directory where you will be installing mail server. We
will refer to this directory as to Program Directory.
- Copy following files:

- In Program Directory create subdirectory \_users\_nodomain\
- Now you can create a shortcut to the mail executable mlsrv.exe, and run it.
Uninstallation on Windows 95/98/Me
- Run Mail Server (mlsrv.exe), and enter administration mode
- Stop the server (File - Stop)
- Exit from program (File - Exit)
- Delete all files in Program Directory and it's subdirectories
- Run regedit, and delete the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ArGoSoft\Mail Server
