A few words about MX recordsLet's consider the following situation: SMTP server (or your application) needs to send email to jdoe@domain.com. The logical solution is to connect to another SMTP server at domain.com and relay the message to it, but the existence of domain.com does not automatically mean that that particular domain is running SMTP server. Even more, most likely it is not. That's why you need to query the DNS server about the servers which have the information about the domain you want to relay the mail to. The addresses of these servers are called Mail Exchanger, or MX records. TmsMXResolver components queries DNS server and retrieves MX records for you. If you are planning to create SMTP server, or email software which bypasses the fixed SMTP server and relays the messages by itself, you need TmsMXResolver component. You can find more information about MX records from:
Currently MX resolver component is available only for registered users of the Internet Mail Suite, since it uses the core units from IMS. In other words, you can register MX Resolver only if you are the registered user of IMS. Besides, it seems really hard to release the evaluation version of TmsMXResolver component, because registered users of the Internet Mail Suite may encounter problems when istalling .dcu files with the source files of IMS. But you can download a demo application and the documentation in wordpad format using the links above. Registered users will receive full source code and they can use TmsMXResolver component as a part of the Internet Mail Suite. RegistrationIf you are the registered user of MX Resolver component, just upgraded to IMS 2.0, and wish to obtain the MX Resolver component, compatible with IMS 2.0, you can get it for free, just send the email to support@argosoft.com and request it. As we mentioned above, TmsMXResolver component is available only for registered users of the Internet Mail Suite. For US$49.00 you are getting full source code of the component.
